We're back from a hiatus to bring you an episode about, you guessed it, COVID-19 or Novel Coronavirus. It only took a global pandemic for us to get our butts in gear and record again! In this episode, we talk about the virus, the public health response, and how you can help #FlattenTheCurve (and what the hell that means). Hopefully, we still have some listeners, so for those of you who are ride or die, thanks!

Sunday Jun 30, 2019
Sunday Jun 30, 2019
Greetings and happy summer!
Today we have an episode about the history of blood donation and transfusions as it pertains to public health, helping people recover from injuries and illness, and why some laws regarding who can donate are still out of date for certain populations, especially the LGBTQIA+ community.
Here is the link Linsey referenced regarding the FDA’s request for public comment. The period to submit comments ended in 2016 (we were incorrect in the podcast episode) but we’ll look to see if there’s anything new!

Thank you to everyone who came and saw us at the 2019 Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) Annual Conference in Salt Lake City! We didn’t do a live show per-se, but rather a roundtable presentation about how podcasts can be a useful tool for communicating to a variety of audiences. We’ll share that info sometime, but for now, sit back and enjoy a story about a pioneer woman who not only was an accomplished doctor and public health champion but also the first female state senator in the U.S. – and an interesting person too!

Sex education should be accessible to everyone, right? Sometimes that's not the case. Linsey discusses her research and dissertation work focused on making sex education accessible for adolescents with intellectual disabilities. Join us for a great conversation!
We're also headed to Salt Lake City for the 2019 Society for Public Health Education Annual Meeting! If you're there too, feel free to say hi! We're hosting a roundtable discussion on how to use podcasts as a tool for health education and promotion!

Episode 37 - Public Health, Religion, and Mythology
Monday Jan 14, 2019
Monday Jan 14, 2019
One recurring theme of this show is that people throughout history have used religion and storytelling to explain what was then unexplainable. In today’s episode, Linsey and Quinn discuss Shapona, the Yoruba god of smallpox, and Endovelicus, the god of public health and safety in pre-Roman Lusitania (modern-day Portugal).
2019 is a big year for Viral – stay tuned for some re-releases of popular episodes and a bunch of new topics!
