Viral is a public health podcast for both public health nerds and the general public started by Linsey Grove and Quinn Lundquist and hosted by Linsey and Megan Albertson. Public health consists of too many topics and professionals to name–but we’re going to try to cover it all. From baby bottle tooth decay to social justice, we will discuss the historical context, cultural relevance, and current connections to each topic while interviewing our colleagues in the field. Welcome to episode 22 of Viral. Sorry we've been gone for about a month, but we are back in the proverbial saddle (get ready for more animal puns) and ready to sink our teeth into a new topic. This week we discuss the link between veterinary medicine and public health. You
don't need hawk vision to see the link here, as we have been transmitting and receiving disease-causing pathogens to and from other species for thousands of years.

Episode 21 - Art & Science
Thursday Nov 09, 2017
Thursday Nov 09, 2017
Art and science. Left brain and right brain. Analytics and emotion. Science gives us explanations, but art gives those explanations meaning. Naturally, these disciplines overlap and have overlapped for as long as both have existed. Today we discuss a few prominent scientific illustrators throughout history, then we talk to Dr. Eliza Wolfson, microbiologist turned scientific illustrator. Plus, we get to nerd out a little about webcomics and graphic novels. Join us!

Episode 14 - Public Health and Climate Change
Thursday Jul 06, 2017
Thursday Jul 06, 2017
Can't we all just come to a consensus? Well, most scientists have on the subject of climate change. In this episode, we talk briefly about climate change and discuss how it impacts public health. We interview Linda Rudolph, MD, MPH, the Director of the Center for Climate Change and Health at the Public Health Institute. Dr. Rudolph discusses how we can harness the power of public health efforts to impact climate change and explains "health in all policies." We also talk with Dayna Lazarus, a community organizer with Organize Florida. Dayna is a passionate climate change and social justice advocate here in the Tampa Bay area. We discuss what community organizing is and why it is important to moving policy forward in addressing issues like climate change.
